10 Cheap Things to Do on Valentine’s Day
Posted in Home, Home Archive | Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Now those of you who know me KNOW that I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day, or Sweetest Day or any of those retail-generated-feel-good-holidays. I feel you should make your loved one feel special whenever. Not just on Valentine’s Day.
BUT
I am a fan of GIFTS.
So here are 10 simple things you can do for your significant other, that really will show how much you care without breaking the bank.
- Write them a love letter. – WRITE IT. The old-fashioned way. You know, with pen and paper? Nothing fancy, just tell them how much you appreciate them.
- Download some “Love Coupons” – Check out the links at the bottom of this post for some fun and easy printable ones.
- Declare Valentine’s Day a “tech-free” day – For those of us who are TOTALLY addicted to our cell phones, twitter, facebook, email accounts. (And there’s NOTHING wrong with that…ahem). Sometimes it’s really nice to just “unplug” for awhile.
- Do something physical - no not that. I mean go someplace. Maybe there’s a free day at your local museum, go bowling maybe there’s a free concert somewhere, do something that you don’t normally do!
- Make Body scrub – Homemade Body Scrub is easy to make the take a shower together and USE it. (Remember it’s edible! YUM!)
- Have some friends over and play games – Keep it simple. Ask everyone to bring something to eat, and someone else bring the drinks, break out Taboo! and get busy! (This is a great thing to do if your single, or if you have single friends. Trust me, single people HATE Valentine’s Day.
- Go to a lingerie shop and buy exactly 1 item. – Panties, Bra, perfume, stockings, whatever. Then that night, you’re ONLY allowed to wear that one item to bed!
- Give them a massage – Homemade Body Oil is simple to make! You can easily use it as a massage oil
- Make dinner – go to allrecipes.com or Broke Ass Gourmet and find a cheap easy meal to make. Don’t cook? Order takeout and serve it up on plates like you made it. (Hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?) Don’t forget the wine! (Or if you don’t drink, sparkling grape juice.)
- Watch a movie – rent one, or if you have a Netflix account watch it on your laptop, or through your XBox or PS3. Make a big bowl of popcorn, and watch the movie in JUST your bathrobes .(Sexy and I do this all the time, it’s fun!)
What are some fun things you’re planning on doing for Valentine’s Day?

I will have to reuse and revamp some of my previous presents and ideas because what I ordered the Hubbster will not be delivered in time.
That one piece (for the bedroom) is also stuck in the snow!
Another reason the snow has to go and quickly.
I have used the Love Coupons before. The Hubbster hoards these forever. This batch will get an expiration date on them.
