I used a combo of vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda to clean my house about a month ago. It worked wonders, except I used too much baking soda and there was a thin layer of powder over everything. Last week I used less baking soda and added some fresh rosemary to the mix. I boiled some water, pounded the rosemary with my mortar and pestle and dropped it in the boiling water. I used the hot water as the cleaners base and added everything in after. Make sure the container is large enough that when you add the vinegar to the baking soda or vice versa, it doesn’t froth over the top of the basin. Gave everything that fresh rosemary scent. I used it outdoors as well to scrub the ground where my kidz (read:dogs) do their business. Safer than washing the area with chemicals that can irritate their paws.

I love it! I never thought about adding rosemary to my general cleaner, that sounds yummy. (I’ll post my recipe next week) I have made the mistake of using too much baking soda too. Left my kitchen looking like I made bread all over the kitchen!

Hey – I just wanted to share another great use for hydrogen peroxide – it cleans wedding rings!!! I drop my rings into a small glass dish and cover it with the peroxide – it starts to bubble away and gets all in between the prongs and crevices.

My rings have small openings behind each diamond which are ‘great’ for collecting lotion, oil etc., but the peroxide removes all of that grossness!! If they are particularly dirty, I pour out the peroxide and repeat, and let it sit for 30 min or so. After, I let them sit in a small amount of rubbing alcohol, remove them dry in a paper towel and they are sparkly and shiny!! A gemologist told me not to rinse with water because it leaves spots on diamonds.
