I think bath salts are even easier to make than Homemade Body Scrub, and they’re a great way to relax and unwind after along day.
Lavender Bath Salt Recipe
- 2 cups Epsom Salt, Sea salt, Kosher salt or a mixture of all three!
- Glass jar (I recycled a salsa jar)
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 tsps of dried lavender (optional)
- 3 tbsps of baking soda (to soften the water)
Mix all in jar and shake well.
Lemony Bath Salt Recipe
- Rock Salt (you can get this at the hardware store)
- Glass jar
- 10 drops of lemon verbena essential oil
- 2 tbsps baking soda
- 4 drops yellow or orange food coloring (try using an all-natural one like one of these)
Mix all ingredients in jar and shake well.
A BIG thank you to Sister Boyd, (one of my first subscribers yaay!) for emailing me with some great ideas for this post!
Do you make your own bath salts? Please comment and share!
Yaaayyyy!!!!!!!!
My husband and I were just talking about making some of these the other day, maybe even to sell. Thanks for the recipes!
Go for it! You could find some pretty recycled glass containers to put them in and it would be perfect!
Ooooooh! Gotta try this! I already have most of these things!
I made homemade bath salts for my family for Christmas! It was a HUGE success! One thing I did that I regret doing (and would like to warn against) is I put the salts in recycled plastic jars (mostly soda bottles). When ended up happening was a lot of air and pressure built up inside of them, so when you open them up it’s like opening up a can of soda that’s been shaken up. Not fun! So, stick with glass!
Wow. I didn’t know that. Thanks for the tip!
I keep SAYING I’m gonna make my own and then get lazy and just grab some off the shelf (which typically cost me about $12 for a 8oz jar) *smh*

I LOVE bath salts – especially lavender!!!
[...] Bath salts – There’s no better way to relieve stress, than with a nice long soak in the tub in the evening. I love to put bath salts in pretty apothecary jars or candy jars. Once again, pick a scent that’s complimentary or the same as what you would use to make your other gifts. [...]
