I know winter is almost over, but but it’s a crummy cold day here in NY. I found this recipe on suite101 awhile back, and altered it for my tastes. I can’t wait to get home and make this one tonight! (It’s vegan, but you won’t care, trust me)

Homemade Quick Hot Chocolate

Total time: 10 minutes

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp. organic or raw brown sugar (you can use vegan sugar too!)
3 tbsp. cocoa (I use the Hershey kind that comes in a can)
    ½ tsp. ground cinnamon (optional)
2 1/3 cups plain (almond or rice) milk*
    ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions:

1. Combine sugar, cocoa and cinnamon (if using) in a small saucepan.
2. Gently stir cocoa mixture into COLD milk with a whisk
3. When most of the cocoa is wet, warm over medium heat, stirring or whisking constantly, until hot. Do NOT boil. (This isn’t tea)
4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
5. Pour into two cups (or one BIG one if this is just for you!) and serve immediately.

YUM!

  • How do you make your hot chocolate?
