When I don’t have enough lemons to make Homemade Lemonade, I make this instead. I ALWAYS have teabags and it’s so simple it saves us from buying yet another beverage at the store.
Homemade Iced- Tea
Ingredients:
Directions:
Fill saucepan 3/4 of the way with water. Pour in sugar and bring to a boil. Once water has boiled and sugar has all dissolved, take from heat and put teabags into the pot. Cover and let steep for 30mins or more. Then pour entire mixture into pitcher and fill the rest of the way with more cold water. Add lemon slices and refrigerate for 1 hour or until cold. Done!
See I told you it was easy. If you want, you can add fresh mint leaves to your iced tea mix.
This post couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’ve been meaning to try something like this since I absolutely LOVE Nestea but am trying to avoid excessive sugar (and also trying to cut down on expenses). What type of tea do you usually use? And what would you recommend for recreating my beloved Nestea? Love your site by the way. Thanks.
I make homemade iced tea frequently too. I tend to use agave nectar instead of sugar. Find it dissolves easier in cold beverages than sugar, but you have to be careful. It can be easy to get ‘heavy handed’ and add more than necessary.
I can’t have tea without lemon. It doesn’t taste right without it. As for the tea bags, I love the Lipton Cold Brew tea bags a lot. Some places still do not carry them, but I find them easily where I live.
;^)
I like this recipe and I said I was going to try the lemonade recipe too. Where can I find fresh mint? I don’t see it when I go grocery shopping; I could be looking in the wrong section.
Thanks! This is great!
@Sisterboyd Hi there! Thanks. You can find fresh mint in the produce section near the other green leafy fresh spices like dill, parsley and thyme
Thank you! I found it and will be making mint lemonade in a few minutes
Thanks so much for all of the great info! And congrats on your award! *HUGS*
