For those of you who are not interested in experimenting with making your own hair oil, or are having trouble getting a hold of the ingredients then this stuff is for you.
Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Hair Oil 150ml $3.99
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Neem Oil, Brahmi Extract, Fruit extracts of Amla, Bahera and Harar, Kapur kachri, Henna leaf extract, Rosemary oil, Lemon Oil, Fragrance
I used to only see this product in Indian shops in Brooklyn, but I’m now seeing this version on mainstream natural/health store shelves. I’ve used this as an oil rinse, (stay tuned for an upcoming post about this) and as a deep conditioner. For the deep condish, I combed the oil through my wet hair liberally, and then sat under a heat cap for an hour or so. The oil has the same consistency as baby oil and is thinner than I expected, but I didn’t need to use a lot. When I rinsed my hair out it was nice ans soft and stayed that way for DAYS. It has all of the oils I would use to make hair oil myself, and THEN some, and it’s starts at only $3.99!
I also used this on my body as a body oil and it felt great. I love multitasking products so this stuff is definitely worth it!
RATING*: 5 Savvy! - Great product, good ingredients, great price, multiple uses, will buy again!
As always. This product is available in the Savvy Shop.

A friend of mine just gave me that same exact bottle. I am thinking of trying it on me and my boys hair, I swear by the castor oil though. Is it somewhat similar?
Great review! I use and loooove this product in my deep conditioners, etc. and the price is great.
Take care.
Interesting…I love coconut oil; so I will have to try and find this!

@Natural Brown sugar 1 It’s thinner than castor oil. I use castor oil under gel for wash ‘n gos and on my ends to seal. this stuff, isn’t really thick enough to seal.
Do people also use this to oil their scalps? I’ve been using Jane Carter’s scalp serum & although good, it’s a bit much on the wallet. So if this does 3 things in one bottle, I’m sold
@Yvette I used it on my scalp, and it seems fine. I can’t compare it to JC scalp serum cuz I haven’t used it.
I just went to the Indian store in LA and I bought this. I’m excited to see how it works.
I love this stuff. I have been using it to do my 2 strand twists. My hubby has started using it too and he loves it.
I have been using this for 1 yr now and I love it. This is my one and only overnight pre poo. In the morning, I rinse out with conditioner and hair is always soft. I may have to try it with heat…hummm.. I love this stuff;-)
@intelligentbeauty Really? How do you pre-poo?
I’ve been using it to seal my hair after I moisturize and its working wonderfully! It doesn’t leave my hair greasy or producty feeling. Last night, I moisturized and sealed before I went to bed in a satin bonet and my hair feels great today. Oh I wear a w’n'g so I don’t know if that makes a difference.
