Now you KNOW how I am all about healthy ingredients right? No cones, parabens or sulfates for me! For more info on why, click here.

Well KinkyKurlyQueen just did a great review of not one but three delicious Desert Essence Organic Conditioners!

  • Italian Red Grape Conditioner
  • Green Apple Ginger Conditioner
  • Coconut Conditioner

From what she says they all provide great slip and moisturize really well. And the best part? (Wait for it)

They only cost her $5.12 each

Yep. Now I have your attention. Check out the full review below.

I wonder if this will work for my hair which isn’t porous at all.I’ve never seen it this cheap at my local whole foods.

    • Savvy says:

@Erin thanks for commenting! It’s so cheap, you could try it as a co-wash first, and then maybe as a DC or mix it with something to DC. I haven’t seen it that cheap either. I think there’s a link on her blog as to where she found it. Let us know how it turns out!

I have been slowly but surely discovering that, like my mamaw, I am becoming more and more allergic to chemicals that cause me itchy scalp and skin conditions. Three that I know of are laurel or laureth sulfate, dimethicone and parabens. These make my life miserable! I am Caucasian with medium thick, curly yet fine. Appears very frizzy if I dont use some type of smoother or styling creme but haven’t found a product free of the irritants mentioned. Can i use the product mentioned…Desert Essence product and do they make a shampoo and other styling products? Thanks so very much for your help in advance!

@Susie Hi there! I don’t use/review anything on this blog with parabens, sulfates, cones, mineral oil or petrolatum, so you’ve definitely come to the right place, welcome! Yes! Desert Essence does make a whole shampoo line of products without those ingredients. The Desert Essence Red Grape shampoo contains a coconut derived sulfate called Sodium Coco Sulfate that DE claims to be naturally derived, but in my world a sulfate is a sulfate, and I’ve recently decided to include all-derived sulfates in that category. (Just my opinion). For more info on that particular ingredient, click here.

I would suggest checking out check out Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo. I did a review of the conditioner here. They work really well on all hair types and they are really cost effective too! HTH!
