I have found that wetting hair daily is the key to awesome natural hair. I have been doing "wash and go" my whole life. I am biracial with 3c curls and I only detangle with a heavy conditioner while in the shower. Afterward, I use oils or gels, I am using homemade flax seed presently, and let my hair air dry; that's it. I never comb or brush the hair before styling.

@nanaj Congrats on your decision to stop using chemicals in your hair! It may seem daunting, but you can do it. Try spraying this Leave-In Conditioner inyour hair, while it's still damp, and every morning to soften your curls. I don't know how long your hair is, but styles like twistouts, are great ways to moisturize, soften curls, and hide new growth. Check out instructions here. Also check out my blogroll (that's the list of blogs in the right column towards the bottom) there are more natural hair resources there. Feel free to email me with any more questions. savvy@savvybrown.com

Dear Savvy, I have been checking out your site every since my daughter
turned me on to it. I have tried to go natural with my hair. All the relaxer is out and it is growing well, my thing is my hair is so thick and very tight,
it is almost hard to comb. I 've had a relaxer most of my adult life about 35
yrs. And I am just tired of it, please help me! Can you give me some sugg.
to help me in my transition. I need something to soften my hair after washing and after it dries. It is so nappy that it is hard to comb, and I am
so tempted to go back to the relaxer, but I am fighting it as hard as I can! Please Help!!! Thank You, Nana J
