I always like to use straight aloe gel. I have a ton of organic aloe gel from Lilly of the Desert that I received after volunteer at a sanctuary event. This stuff is great for everything, your skin, your gums, sores, rashes, inflammation...it's like a miracle plant.

I do this too, but silly me...I had been using just conditioner and water. It works, but it doesn't give me the shine I'd like. I'll add some coconut oil to my mixture today, along with some essential oils. I tend to use EO Rose & Chamomile or Rosemary & Mint conditioner as my leave-in. I used to use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration, but I like the EO better, and they contain MUCH fewer chemicals than HE.

I've been looking for an all-natural leave in condish. This recipe is sooo good! Instead of using water, I used aloe vera juice. OMG, this one is a keeper.

Hi Angel! Ur right, water does not provide hold, BUT your hair does need some water if you're going to use a humectant like glycerine. Humectants help retain moisture in your hair by taking it from the air and binding to your hair. If you live in a colder climate and there is not enough water in the air, it will start taking it from your HAIR, making it dry and frizzy. Maybe try using a little water with the glycerine and then add the oil separately?

How do you apply the hot oil with the cotton? Do you pull it through your hair? Or do you just use it on your scalp? How doyou keep bits from cotton from getting in your hair?

Hello: I have nappy tight 4B hair and a little glycerin has helped me in the winter months, along with sheabutter, castor oil, olive oil. WATER for me does not help my hair hold but produces frizzies. The oils do not and help keep me moisturized. I may add a little glycerin to my lottobody setting lotion if I am setting my twists on rollers. Or again to Aloe Vera without water. I can use water before washing my hair. Hot oil treatments help with shedding. You can apply a little hot oil anytime with cotton and you do not have to wash out.
